Travel Budget Worksheet · Example edition

Know the assumptions behind the trip cost.

This fictional two-person, three-night trip uses illustrative EUR estimates. The figures are planning inputs, not current prices or booking recommendations.

ItemPlanned EURBasis
Transport240Two return journeys
Accommodation360Three nights shared
Meals180Two people over three days
Local travel40Shared allowance
Contingency80Unallocated buffer
Working total

The plan totals €900 for two people, or €450 each if all costs are split equally. A different sharing arrangement should be recorded explicitly rather than assumed.

What is missing

Check baggage, booking fees, insurance needs, and any activities before treating the estimate as complete. Record the source and date for each real price.

When the plan changes

Replace an estimate with the booked amount and keep the difference visible. Recalculate the total after every material change; do not hide overruns inside the contingency line.
